rusty, nancy + jack’s story: resource guarder to canine good citizen (private training + group classes)
“we engaged the services of rebecca after we rescued a male cocker spaniel about five years of age. we first used a dominant-type trainer which we did not feel comfortable with at all. we did some research into types of training and found positive reinforcement which appealed to us very much. we then interviewed several candidates who used this type of training and from there we chose rebecca.
from our first visit, we felt comfortable with her. our dog was also very comfortable and responded to her training enthusiastically. the issues we wanted to work on right away were his resource guarding and walking on a leash.
not only did rebecca have a thoughtful laid out plan for how to teach us to deal with the resource guarding, she also suggested reading material which was very helpful. the experience with rebecca enabled us to bond with our new found family member much sooner and much stronger than we would have with no training, and definitely better than the dominant-type training we had previously tried.
we also took canine good citizen training from rebecca which was just a wonderful experience. we only wish it had lasted longer. we can strongly recommend rebecca and her approach to training. she is thorough, has a carefully laid out training plan, and is available for consultation when you get stuck.
thanks to rebecca we have a wonderful, well adjusted, happy cocker spaniel.”
